Watched this the other day. The trailer was intriguing when it was shown on tv so I was looking forward to watching it. Let me just say, if you were a fan of Blair Witch, you will like this format.  I did like Blair Witch but I found Cloverfield made me nauseous.  It is so jerky/jolty/motiony that I seriously felt sick after about 30 minutes. Its way too dark too and I hate dark. I watched it in a completely dark room and still had a hard time making out some stuff. I liked the special effects, the monster and the violence if that makes sense, HA! If I were you, I'd wait for it to come on cable.
